PostSubject: Re: Mission 1 - Team A   Mission 1 - Team A EmptySun Apr 24, 2011 2:26 pm

A single bead of sweat trailed down the size of Vincent's face as he stared up at the monstrously large foe before him. If anyone had told him prior to this that he would be facing a giant sea monster boss for a tiny jewel thing with no expert help he would've collapsed from laughing in his their. Now all he wanted to do was throw his sword at the beast and hide under a rock in hopes of it hitting a weak spot or something. But no, that definitely wasn't going to happen now was it?

His grip tightened on his sword as he stared down Oarasin. Countless thoughts flew in and out of his head as he tried to come up with an idea on what his next move should be. Charge straight on? No, that boss would probably kill him with a swipe of it's... flipper, maybe crush was a better word. Hiding wouldn't do much good, since this was near shore so nothing was big enough to hide his tall frame. "Keep your guard up Vincent..." he mumbled under his breath, finally clearing his mind and steadying himself. Deciding to let his instincts lead him for now he prepared himself to counter Oarasin's next strike.

The beasts loud roar ripped though the area, before he dove underneath the waves. Oarasin knew that he had an advantage over the sword wielding male, so he would milk it for all its worth. Unfortunately for the beast, if he was not under the water his attacks were widely predictable and even if he wasn't he was restricted to head on attacks or a swipe of his tail. But the limited amount of attacks were easily matched with sharp teeth and speed.

In a quick movement, Oarasin sprang out of the deep water and landed in the shallows near the boy. He raked his tail towards the boy at a level parallel to his head.

Mission 1 - Team A Empty
PostSubject: Re: Mission 1 - Team A   Mission 1 - Team A EmptyMon Apr 25, 2011 12:25 pm

A brief moment of panic struck through his eyes when he watched the mammoth of a monster sink back under the water currents. 'It can't be over...' he convinced himself to keep his guard up. His hands began to shift uncomfortably on the hilt of his sword as he wait anxiously. He had a feeling that whatever was coming next might be pretty. Taking a single step back, he dug the heel of his left into the sand in order to ground himself. As the water began to shift unnaturally, he knew it was coming.

Courageously, or possibly foolishly, he kept his ground when the monster leaped from the water and into shallow waters. Now Oarasin was nearer to his turf, no more deep water to get in his way. Vincent grit his teeth in reflex when he noticed movement from behind the sea serpant. With eyes widened in surprise, the student ducked down under the large tail at the last second. He could literally feel the wind pressure created by the force of the tail zipping through the air press against him. Fighting it, he took that narrow chance to take a stab at slicing the nearest part of the sea monster. Naively closing his eyes as the sword flung downwards, he braced for the result of his attack. Once he felt it stuck against something Vincent immediately jumped back in order to dodge any counter the monster might throw at him.

Oarasin felt the pain as the sword racked against his side. However, the size of the gash the swordsman had made with miniscule compared to the rest of his body. This pain was nothing compared to what he had felt before anyways. The sea monster had planned on reaching out to the male with one of his short flippers, but at the last moment the boy had jumped out of range. Pity. The monster had no choice but to retreat back to the deep waters. The monster's attack pattern was predictable. Attack, retreat, attack, retreat.

Again the monster sunk below the waters and sprang back up, this time from a new angle. However, instead of attacking with tail, he went for a head on attack with his razor sharp teeth. Oarasin was not afraid to go as shallow as he could in order to get to the team. He has had years of practice with this.

Mission 1 - Team A Empty
PostSubject: Re: Mission 1 - Team A   Mission 1 - Team A EmptyWed Apr 27, 2011 12:34 pm

'It hit.... it hit!' His mind reeled in temporary excitement when he caused some damage to the beast. True, it was more like a splinter wound then a legit cut but hey, it reminded him that Oarasin was flesh and blood just as he was. Adrenaline pumping through his body, Vincent's mind started to clear and he began to really get into fighting mode. Chances were now something he was willing to take. Even if he misfires, all he could lose is his life... right?

Seeing the monster retreat back into the depths of the waters, the realization of a pattern came to him. With his confidence rising he prepared himself for the next attack. For now he decided on testing if his theory was correct and if it was, use it to his advantage during his next attack. But his plans were disrupted and changed with the monster's next blow. Vincent positioned his sword in front of him in a defensive stance when he saw the beast spring back to the shallows. Visibly tensing for a moment, he expected Oarasin to swing a flipper or something at him once again but instead was greeted with an incoming head filled with razor sharp teeth.

The gears in his mind turned quickly, overworking itself due to the surprise. Quickly his body dodged to the left as he lifted his hand hand and stabbed forward to lodge his blade into where the sea monster's head and neck meet. With it so up close, Vincent was overwhelmed with its size. But when he tried to pull out his sword he realized it was stuck. "Sh-t." Seeing that he'd go up with the monster anyway if he were to cling onto his sword, Vincent grabbed the nearest thing he could grab on the monster's head and hoisted himself onto him in a leap of faith. Biting his lip, he held on tightly in case Oarasin decided to whip his head around. His eyes were trained on the prize, which in this case what the jewel wedged in the monster's forehead, he thought of ways to reach it before he was thrown off.

The aquatic beast let out an ear piercing cry when its neck was impaled by the sword. The beast shook his head viciously in order to try to dislodge it from his neck. It had not struck any vital areas but it was a cause for some great discomfort. Oarasin continued to swing his great body around, even at some points trying to reach the sword with his teeth in an attempt to pull it out. Out of the corner of his eye he saw the male climb upon his back. Pushing the pain in his neck aside he whipped his tail towards the man intent on smashing the body against his with his razor like fins.

Clinging onto the beast for literally dear life, Vincent slowly attempted his way up to the gem that laid embedded in Oarasin's forehead. Definitely not the simplest task and easily made one of the most difficult experiences he's ever faced. "Come on..." He bit his lip, drawing blood, as he tried to stick onto the monster like glue. If only the boss wasn't so slippery then he wouldn't have to worry so much about slipping off rather than being thrown off. Though the constant thrusting of the monster's body was an issue as well.

Pausing to hold try and keep still as he awaited another one of the monster's jerking, Vince realized that its body had stopped moving. A warning sign went off in his head as he quickly looked behind him to see the tail head straight in his direction in order to pancake him and possibly slice him up in the process. Giving off a loud yell, he leaned/rolled to the left to avoid the sharp fins and continued his way to the top of Oarasin's head with new rigor. Luckily he soon reached the monster's crown and proceeded with his plan. Placing his hands on the stone, he tightened his grip and gave it a yank. He hoped to god it would come out.

The beast saw the man out of the corner of his eye. The sword now forgotten as the man neared the gem. Oarasin was making this too easy. The monster grew sill. “Better hold on tight, son.” After a great leap into the air Oarasin dove again into the deep water, taking Vincent under with him. Trails of blood streamed through the water as they washed off from the wound on his neck. The gem was not going to be coming out of his head that easily. Not without a fight.

"Not good." Was all Vincent managed to get out after hearing Oarasin speak and after feeling the comfort of being grounded leave him. No matter how deep a breath he managed to get, the pressure of water slamming against his body squeezed a good chunk of air out of his lungs. Water battle. Definitely not good. Frantic to get something done before the water monster could get settled into its element, Vincent clawed at the gem lodged in the beast's forehead. No good. Eyes darting about for something sharp he quickly reached out and grabbed a rock/coral thing and pounded around the gem hoping to weaken the skin. He glanced at his abandoned sword and suddenly wished he could whisk it somehow back into his hand. Bubbles escaped his mouth before he shut it tight once more. Continuing to pound, he somewhat wedged a thin part of the rock underneath the side of the gem. 'Come on...' practically grinding his teeth he began to put pressure on one side of the rock to life the gem out.

The beast was a lot faster under the water. It had allowed him to move much more freely, but his actions were a bit too late as the gem in his head had begun to get dislodged from where it was housed in between his scales. This kid would not give up and his tenacity was showing though. It would be a cheap trick for Oarasin to use a full on attack now that he was nearly defeated. Plus, he admired the kid. But then again. He wouldn’t let him get away without injury. The monster now settled into the watery habitat, shook its head a few times before swimming full speed towards a rocky outcrop. He met it head on, intent to sandwich Vincent between the two. Both sword and stone becoming dislodged from the quick impact.

Finally he could feel the gem releasing its grip on the monster's skin as it peeled off slowly. But just as he was about to pull the gem away, Vincent felt Oarasin's muscles tense as he began to move. Gripping the scaly skin reflexively and for dear life, he clenched his teeth tightly to stop himself from attempting to take a breath. But before he knew it the monster shot off and slammed him into a rock face knocking the wind out of him. Coughing out the boy's hands shot towards his mouth to stop himself from breathing in. Groaning in the back of his throat he held in the pain on both his back and stomach and now the lack of air.

Vincent could feel himself getting light headed and knew he had to move fast but there wasn't much he could do. Narrowing his eyes in the now murky water, the student noticed two objects floating in the water. Taking the chance he reached out with both hands and grabbed; left hand on the gem and right on the sword. Giving a final grunt, he brought the sword up and then stabbed it into the monster's head and dragged downward. The force of the water against his thrust stopped him from cutting deep but it was deep enough. Waiting for even a split second for the beast to loosen its grip, Vincent pushed off the rock wall and shot upwards. Legs pumping with every ounce of strength left, he surfaced and dragged himself onto shore while coughing roughly. His back laid down weakly against the wet sand with arms and legs spread out. Glancing to the side he assured himself that it was the gem he had grabbed and not some rock. But seeing the gem wasn't enough to relieve him. He was spent. If the monster came after him now he was done for. Breathing heavily, he waited for the result with closed eyes.

Under the water the boy’s movements were slow and sluggish. Perhaps that was what had saved Oarasin from that lethal blow. The beast instead received a gash above his brow. His eyes followed as the boy swam up through the red stained water. The boy had the gem and had at least two lethal attacks on the monster. It was enough. The beast would not be attacking any more. He returned to the surface and placed his head in the shallows next to Vincent, speaking again in his feminine voice which echoed though out the cape, “Don’t be alarmed young one. You have beaten me. It was a great feat to take me on alone. So long Vincent. I would not mind facing you again.” And with that said the beast slipped away into the tide.

    (( +3 levels ))

((What will Vincent do now? He can be moved to the other team or a member from the other team can come join you. If you would like, they can still go into the mountains for the other gem, or one of the chairmen could go after it.))

The airship had landed not very far away from where Vincent had just fought the water monster. With the same quiet movements he had used to bring the boy into the airship, Raziel dumped Fried onto the sand on the other side of the cape. It had amazed Raziel that the boy did not awaken as he was transported on the airship, but it made things even better. From where they were on top of the sand dune they could see where Vincent was laying grasping his sword and the stone for Lutra's house.

With the deed done, Raziel slunk away from the cape, returning his ship to the air.

Mission 1 - Team A Empty
PostSubject: Re: Mission 1 - Team A   Mission 1 - Team A EmptyFri May 13, 2011 11:04 pm

Exhausted from the fight with Aget, Fried had slept thru the entire ordeal. The faint noise of waves breaking gently on the shore slowly eased Fried from his slumber. His face cheek was slightly hurried in the sand. His jacket was still on and the gathering heat shocked Fried awake. He lurched forward and quickly changed into some cooler clothes. After changing Fried noticed three things in this order.
1: He was outside (he had fallen asleep inside).
2: His team wasn't with him.
3: He was on the coast.
"Am I dreaming he mumbled to himself as he looked around. Picking up his sword and his pack, "Hello" Fried hollered. "Where am I?" he thought. Shaking the sand out of his light brown hair, Fried proceded to walk towards the water.

The predicament Fried now found himself in conjured up a strange set of emotions and thoughts. He wasn't scarred nor was he worried. He was rather comfortable in this environment. Many theories of how he had gotten to this place. Naturally, he wondered where his team was, but he didnt know where their next mission was. Even though Fried had no inkling about what was going on he wasn't bothered. Actually he was rather relaxed. He did care about what had happened but he wasn't overstressing about it.

After about ten minutes of walking, looking, yelling, and thinking, Fried saw a man on the other shore. "Hey!" he yelled waving his arms as he began to jog to the stranger.

Mission 1 - Team A Empty
PostSubject: Re: Mission 1 - Team A   Mission 1 - Team A EmptySat May 14, 2011 11:08 pm

It was probably because of his exhaustion from the fight but Vincent had passed out after listening half consciously to Oarasin speak to him. But before passing out you could see the faint shape of a smile on his lips showing that he indeed heard what the boss had to say. It was probably the next morning by the time Vincent opened his eyes again. Groaning loudly as he forced himself into a sitting position he could've sworn he heard the sound of a helicopter or some kind of engine running. It didn't matter though since the stabbing pain of his wounds was clogging his ability to think.

The temptation of using one of the two potions was alluring but he decided to save it for the next boss. If he treated them right it should heal up well enough during the trek up north. After half dragging himself to his pack which he had dumped before the battle, Vincent pulled out a bottle of disinfectant and basically poured a bunch on his salt covered wounds. It stung like hell. There was a large wound on his back from hitting against the rock wall, plus his shirt was all ripped up, and a huge bruise on his stomach. Other cuts and bruises dotted his body but they were miniscule compared to the other two. After disinfecting, releases a string of colorful words in the process, he wrapped a bandage all around his abdomen.

As he was finishing up his rather crude self treatment, Vincent noticed a figure not so far away yell out and start towards him. Weary about who, or rather what, he might be, Vince quickly relaxed himself when he realized he was a student like himself. "Huh, thought everyone ditched me. Then again you don't look like anyone on my team..." Vincent spoke up when Fried reached him. Observing the boy carefully he wondered where he came from. Maybe from that helicopter or plane he heard earlier. He welcomed the help however, if that's why this kid was here. But looking at his expression he had a feeling Fried didn't know why he was there either.

"Huh?" Fried said, "Your a student too? Where am I?" The kid looked like hell. "You OK?" he asked him. "My name's Fried." He extended his hand. Fried noticed that he had become considerably more tan after spending just one day in the desert. -grumble-grumble. Fried looked down at his stomach, he was hungry and the desert fruit wasn't very filling. He looked at the water and smiled, wonder ing if he could catch any fish there.

PostSubject: Re: Mission 1 - Team A   Mission 1 - Team A EmptySun May 15, 2011 8:37 pm

"I'm fine." Vincent answered with the side of his mouth curling up into a half amused smile at the kid's confusion as he put his few medical supplies back into his bag. "Right now we're at the south-most part of the island, Cape Kalinis. I'm surprised you don't know. Did you just end up here without realizing it? I'm here to get the gem from the boss monster here, Oarasin I think his name was." As if he prove he wasn't lying he lifted his left hand to show Fried the gem before placing it safely into his pack. He still couldn't believe he had survived that, having not consciously remembered what Oarasin had said before he passed out. "And I'm Vincent, call me Vince." Accepting the hand shake a friendly smile spread across his lips. It wasn't hard to tell that he was happy to meet another student in this monster filled island.

Having finished wiping down his sword, sheathing it, and shouldering on his pack, Vincent pushed himself off the ground to stand when he heard the sound of a stomach grumbling. It took him a moment to realize it was Fried's stomach and not his own, but it was only a second before his stomach did the same. Grinning sheepishly at his own hunger he glanced around in thought before recalling the fish his former team and himself had cooked earlier. Swinging his pack around he unzipped a pocket and pulled out the fish that was safely conserved in a plastic bag. Splitting what was left of the bag's contents he handed half to Fried. "It's not much but it's better than nothing. I guess we can look for something better on our way up." With a quick encouraging smile he started away from the beach and back inland, automatically assuming Fried was going to follow him and was there to help him with the next boss.
